Omg I KNEW it wasn't my imagination. I've been trying to achieve a sort of lower pitch/tomboyish voice and I felt like even though it *should* be easier than trying to do a super fem/higher pitch voice, it's actually been noticeably harder, I feel like my struggle has been validated XD

From someone with ADHD, it's not as simple as just believing we can act even without motivation. The dopamine receptors in my brain literally block the motivation to get things done at a level others have. It takes a long time to rev up my focus and I can get stuck in a hyperfocus. I'm not saying this as an excuse, just that sometimes pushing through isn't good enough advice - we can face other sorts of blocks that need to be worked on, or strategic tools to overcome them! It's okay though. The quote is still a useful one. Sometimes just doing something even when we don't want to can help that motivation start flowing.

With your string analogy isn't that a perfect reason for voice feminization surgery since a thinner string requires less work / stretch and will then will have higher pitch without much effort and will remove the very low male pitch that comes with testosterone?

When I just sound my larynx only, I sound like Mickey Mouse, and I HATE it, I feel even more dysphoric. And the only time I relatively like how I sound, is when I add a little pitch to my resonance. Is this how it's supposed to be? Or do I supposed to use larynx only?

practicing hurts so much... this coming from a butch transgirl that knows she can get away with not sounding the most flowery or feminine... you explaining that (I am paraphrasing/misinterpreting maybe) as long as i hear it going wrong, i am improving, means the world. I have a very close group of friends who are incredible but aweful for voice training because they do the following: Zoey sounds the way she sounds -> Zoey is a girl -> thus girls can sound like Zoey sounds. I dare not practise among friends or in public because (i think) it sounds like i'm doing a caricature of a woman... like i'm making fun of women... I'd rather be be seen as a man in a dress than be thought of as making fun of women 😮‍💨

i came out 3 months ago... my voice us horrible growly and low toned... being 51 having a feminine voice appears like a very long shot for me... but I'll keep trying my best to soften it as much as I can. Than you for your channel and your videos! you are an amazing source of inspiration! 🥰
